“Why can't I find that in stores?”
(a word about licensing)
With the exception of the items in her Etsy store, Beth doesn't actually manufacture the products you buy...she licenses her designs to several different types of companies. This means she gives them the right to reproduce and sell her artwork on a variety of products, and in return she receives royalties for items sold.
If you ever see a design of Beth’s and wonder “why doesn’t she put that on baby bedding?” or “why doesn't she make that into wrapping paper?” there’s a good chance she’s been trying to do just that and there’s already a deal in the works. Beth travels to a tradeshow in
Quite often, though, these deals can take up to a year or two...there’s the design-approval process, often market research tests prior to production, then manufacturing, marketing to retailers, and finally the product’s (seasonally-appropriate) debut in a store near you!
You can keep up-to-date with new retail releases by checking out the artstuff blog. It's the best way to keep up-to-date about projects she's working on and when and where you'll actually find new stuff in stores!
